Cremation Guarantee & Ethics

Our Identification Process & Guarantee

  • Next of kin initiates contact with Tri-State Cremation Society granting permission to take possession of loved one.
  • A licensed funeral director facilitates identification of loved one with next of kin.
  • We transport your loved one into our care where an identification bracelet is filled out and attached. Your loved one is then placed in refrigeration until cremation takes place.
  • Licensed funeral director coordinates obtaining proper documentation including:
    • Death certificate signed by attending physician or Medical Examiner with cause of death listed
    • Fully executed & signed Cremation Authorization
    • Cremation permit signed by Medical Examiner
  • The cremation process does not take place until loved one is positively identified.
  • Your loved one is then assigned a cremation number. This number is embossed on a small metallic disc and accompanies the deceased throughout the entire process. The deceased loved one is placed in an alternative cardboard container (required by the crematory), placed in the retort and cremated. All documentation is affixed to the retort to ensure proper identification is maintained throughout the process.
  • Upon completion of cremation, the cremated remains are then put into a temporary container and the numbered disc is placed with the container.  Two identification cards with the loved one’s name, date of cremation, name of the funeral home and the cremation number are also used to identify the cremains. One card is placed inside the container and the other is affixed to the outside of the container and returned to the funeral director.
  • The cremated remains are returned directly to the next of kin to the address provided on the Cremation Authorization Form.
